Selim travels with his daughter Halima. They stand at the ferry ticket window.
Selim viaja com a filha, Halima. Eles ficam na janela de venda de passagens da balsa.
"Two kinds of seats today," the worker says. "Covered seats inside, or open seats on the deck." "The covered seats cost extra," the worker adds.
"Hoje temos dois tipos de assento", o funcionário diz. "Assentos cobertos por dentro, ou assentos abertos no convés." "Os assentos cobertos custam mais", o funcionário acrescenta.
Halima looks at the gray sky above the water. "The open seats sound cold," she says.
Halima olha para o céu cinza sobre a água. "Os assentos abertos parecem frios", ela diz.
"But the deck has a nice view," Selim says.
"Mas o convés tem uma vista bonita", Selim diz.
"I like watching the water," Halima says. "Let's sit outside," she says with a smile.

They buy two tickets for the open deck. The ferry leaves the dock right on time.

Wind pushes against their coats and hair. Halima pulls her hood up over her ears.

The boat moves past small green islands. Birds fly low over the waves nearby.
O barco passa por pequenas ilhas verdes. Pássaros voam baixo sobre as ondas por perto.
"I am glad we picked this side," Halima says.

Selim points at something near the boat. "Look, over there! A dolphin!" he says.

Halima leans over the rail and watches it swim. The wind is cold, and the ride is fun. They watch the dolphin swim away.

Soon they can see the island ahead. Small white houses sit on the hill. Halima wants to see the market near the dock.
