Choosing Between the Two Kittens

Vera visits the animal shelter to adopt one kitten. She wants just one, but two kittens catch her eye.
Vera visita o abrigo de animais para adotar um gatinho. Ela quer apenas um, mas dois gatinhos chamam sua atenção.
The first kitten is orange and sleeps in a small ball. The second kitten is gray and climbs the cage bars.
O primeiro gatinho é laranja e dorme enrolado em uma bolinha. O segundo gatinho é cinza e sobe pelas grades da jaula.
"I can't decide," Vera tells the shelter worker, Amir. "They're both so cute."
"Eu não consigo decidir", Vera diz ao funcionário do abrigo, Amir. "Os dois são tão fofos."
"Take your time," Amir says. "Sit with both of them for a while."
"Fique à vontade", diz Amir. "Passe um tempo com os dois."
Vera sits on the floor. The orange kitten climbs into her lap and falls asleep right away.
Vera se senta no chão. O gatinho laranja sobe no colo dela e adormece na mesma hora.
The gray kitten jumps on her shoulder and bats at her hair. Vera laughs out loud.
O gatinho cinza pula no ombro dela e dá patadas no cabelo dela. Vera ri alto.
"This one has a lot of energy," Amir says. "The orange kitten is calm and quiet."
"Esse aqui tem muita energia", diz Amir. "O gatinho laranja é calmo e quieto."
Vera thinks about her small apartment and her busy work schedule. "Maybe a calm kitten is a good choice," she says.
Vera pensa no seu apartamento pequeno e na sua rotina de trabalho corrida. "Talvez um gatinho calmo seja uma boa escolha", ela diz.
But the gray kitten won't stop playing with her shoelace. Vera watches it and starts to smile.
Mas o gatinho cinza não para de brincar com o cadarço dela. Vera observa e começa a sorrir.
"Actually, I need some energy in my life too," she says. "Can I take them both?"
"Na verdade, eu também preciso de um pouco de energia na minha vida", ela diz. "Posso levar os dois?"
Amir laughs and checks his clipboard. "Two kittens, coming right up," he says. Vera fills out the papers for both.
Amir ri e confere sua prancheta. "Dois gatinhos, saindo", ele diz. Vera preenche os papéis para os dois.
