The Hiker Off the Trail

Zeke hikes the mountain trail near his house every week. He knows every turn and every marker on the path. Today he sees a woman sitting on a rock. She looks tired, and her map is upside down.

Zeke mendaki jalur gunung dekat rumahnya setiap minggu. Ia hafal setiap tikungan dan setiap penanda di jalur itu. Hari ini ia melihat seorang perempuan duduk di atas batu. Perempuan itu tampak lelah, dan petanya terbalik.

"Are you lost?" Zeke asks.

"Apakah Anda tersesat?" tanya Zeke.

"A little," the woman says. "My name is Astra." "I left the main trail an hour ago," she says.

"Sedikit," kata perempuan itu. "Nama saya Astra. Satu jam lalu saya keluar dari jalur utama."

Zeke looks at her map and turns it around. "You are close to the trail," he says. "Follow me. I know a shortcut back," he says.

Zeke melihat peta itu dan memutarnya. "Anda sudah dekat dengan jalurnya," katanya. "Ikuti saya. Saya tahu jalan pintas untuk kembali," katanya.

Astra stands up and picks up her bag. They walk through the trees together.

Astra berdiri dan mengambil tasnya. Mereka berjalan bersama melewati pepohonan.

Zeke points out a small stream to cross. "Step on the flat rocks," he tells her.

Zeke menunjukkan sebuah sungai kecil yang harus diseberangi. "Injak batu-batu yang rata," katanya.

Astra follows his steps carefully across the water. Soon they reach the main trail again.

Astra mengikuti langkahnya dengan hati-hati menyeberangi air. Tak lama kemudian mereka sampai di jalur utama lagi.

"There's the marker I remember," Astra says with a smile.

"Itu penanda yang saya ingat," kata Astra sambil tersenyum.

Zeke checks his watch and looks at the sky. "The parking lot is just down this hill," he says.

Zeke melihat jam tangannya dan menatap langit. "Tempat parkirnya tepat di bawah bukit ini," katanya.

They walk down together and reach the cars. Astra opens her trunk and pulls out a water bottle. "Take this. Thank you for your help," she says.

Mereka berjalan turun bersama dan sampai di tempat mobil-mobil diparkir. Astra membuka bagasinya dan mengeluarkan sebotol air. "Ambillah ini. Terima kasih atas bantuan Anda," katanya.

Zeke takes the water and waves goodbye. He turns back up the trail toward home.

Zeke menerima air itu dan melambaikan tangan untuk berpamitan. Ia berbalik menyusuri jalur ke arah rumahnya.
