Farah's study planner app starts giving odd advice, and she traces the problem to a setting her friend switched on as a joke.
Farah uses a study planner app to organize her homework. The app sends her reminders and tips every day.
This week, the tips start to sound strange. One reminder says, "Take a three-hour break before your math test."
Another one says, "Study at midnight for great results." Farah frowns at her phone.
"This doesn't sound right," she says to her brother. "The app never gave advice like this before."
Her brother, Nico, looks at the app too. "Did you let anyone borrow your phone?" he asks.
Farah thinks for a moment. "My friend used it yesterday, for a few minutes," she says.
They check the app's settings together. There is a new setting. It's called "Joke Mode," and it's turned on.
"There it is," Nico says. "Someone turned on Joke Mode as a joke."
Farah laughs and turns the setting off. The next reminder is normal again: "Review chapter four for twenty minutes."
She texts her friend. "Very funny," she writes. "Joke Mode is officially off now."
